The pattern of the board is yellow and black squares which have repetition. The variety is the pieces are different but the harmony is all the squares are the same size. There is horizontal and vertical balance with the black and yellow squares. The cars and video game controllers aren't in real proportion because video controllers and cars aren't the same six in real life.Everything in our game is equal because nothing really stands out.My eyes move all over the place in this game because it's abstract and simple.

Daily Object Sketch:Day 29 (12-15-14)

Who am I? Final Project

I am African American. My parents know that I'm African American, but aren't sure about anything else. I know we all come from Adam and Eve and had to go through many different generations and cultures. However, as time goes on, we usually have one distinct ethnicity that stands out in us. For me, that is African American.
I made this artwork because I was inspired by a modern photo to add some heritage and meaning to it. In my life this art symbolizes that we all have different ethnicities within us even if we don't know it. It is a very simple art piece it it has a lot of meaning. All of the colors the girl and the word history is made up of symbolizes all of the cultures she's made up of.
I used simulated texture by the way I drew the girls hair. Also in the girls hair I used hatching to create value. I used tetradic and complementary colors because they blend really well together and those were the main pastels I had to work with. Form was used with the variety of colors and the balance is horizontal. It is two dimensional and the white space around the girl and words is negative space. The girl and words are positive space. I didn't use the element of line.

Favorite Art Journal Entries

I like this art journal entry because the shadow came out really cool.

I like this art journal entry because I found a lot of good related words to leopard in magazines like night prowler and mighty jaws.

I didn't like the art journals because sometimes it was hard to come up with enought words to write. Also, it was hard to sketch enough to fill up most of the page sometimes. However, it was fun skecthing to the different and interesting topics.

Favorite Daily Object Sketches

I like this sketch because the basketball is made up of tiny balls and it looks cool.

I like this sketch because it has color and it's my basketball jersey.

I like this sketch because it's sharp and creepy.

I like this sketch because I could never draw a horse, but in this the horse looks ok.

This is my most favorite sketch because it was the first game our team has win this year!

Likes doing the daily object sketches because I never thought could do so much with just a basketball. I suprised myself with all of the things I came up with. Also, it only took a few minutes to do and turn in.

Daily Object Sketch:Day 19 (10-29-14)

Art Critique 1

The art I will be critiquing is by Emily Parker. She recreated Metamorphosis by Vladimir Kush. The basket made by using pastels, stands out to me when I first look at her recreated artwork. It stands out to me because it is the darkest and boldest color Emily used. The navy blue is also dark, but the brown stands out more because it is on a light background. My eyes follow the brown basket up to the balloon and then to the white clouds. I look from light to dark. The meaning that this artwork could represent is that your dreams can take you anywhere! If I were to name this artwork, I would name it The Dream Balloon. The color that is used in this piece is blended and mixed to make it look natural. The color signifies the balloon is a part of the clouds riding into the sunset or sunrise. I think Emily chose to recreate this art because she is very creative and she really wanted to use the cotton balls as the clouds, and also the original artwork stood out to her. This is a very creative way to recreate the original art piece. It is nice how she mixed the elements of cotton balls, paint, and pastels.

Original Artwork- “Thérèse Dreaming” by Balthasar Klossowski

Statement: Balthasar Klossowski created the painting I am recreating. It's called “Thérèse Dreaming”. Balthus was French and painted figures and landscapes. Both of his parents were painters and he grew up in Paris. Some people thought he was a pervert because he was always painting adolescent girls.
I choose the recreate this artwork because it was the easiest of the three that I had picked. Also, I really like animals, so the cat in the painting stood out to me. As soon as a saw it an idea of how to recreate it popped into my head. As I began thinking about it, there was a lot I could do with this painting. This symbolizes that teens are always sleeping because we don't get enough sleep at night but animals like cats get to sleep all they want and do whatever they want whenever they want.
I used primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. The emotions in the artwork are calm but contrasting so the tiger stands out. I changed the colors because a tiger isn't the same color of a house cat and to make it pop. Some of the colors are the same though. I changed the house cat to a tiger, the milk to meat and water, the girl to a zookeeper, and the background to an animal enclosure.
